Although the traditional industrial robot can also realize the force control by means of the end force sensor, due to the limitation of the position-oriented control architecture, the force closed-loop has many links, slow response and slow beat, which is hard to compare with the human hand. Flexible robots have different hardware and software architectures from traditional industrial robots: each joint is equipped with a force sensor, and the underlying control architecture is controlled by the original position, transition power and position fusion control, so that the robot has both high precision position control and high dynamic force control.
The so-called high dynamic force control means that the closed loop frequency of the force is increased by one or two orders of magnitude compared with the industrial robot, and the force response is more sensitive. At the same time, the robot can simulate the compliant characteristics of human arm muscle control, so that the robot has the ability to deal with environmental uncertainties. For example, in the assembly scene of parts, active compliance in the corresponding direction can be controlled to simulate the deviation of manual compliance position to carry out compliant assembly. Another example is complex surface grinding. The flexible robot controls the position in the forward direction and the force in the direction of grinding pressure. Through the compliant adjustment of the manipulator arm, it ADAPTS the bending changes of the surface, which is consistent with the characteristics of manual operation.
If AI is compared to human brain decision-making, the motion control of manipulator is similar to cerebellum and limb control, and only the limb controlled by position is uncoordinated. The addition of force sense and flexibility provides a more powerful platform support for the upper intelligence, which can accelerate the landing of AI in the generalized production activities.
