South Korea Releases Report, China's Robotics Ranks Fifth in the World?

Recently, the Korea Federation of Industries released a report entitled “The Global Robot Industry and the Impact of Korea”, which said that China’s robot industry competitiveness ranks fifth among the major countries in the world, ranking below Japan, the United States, Germany and Switzerland.

Competitiveness of robot industry in various countries

In 2020, the market size of the global robot industry will reach 24.3 billion US dollars (about 170.7 billion yuan). According to the data of the Korea Industry Federation, South Korea ranks first in the world in terms of robot density, with 932 robots per 10000 workers, far exceeding the global average of 126, and also higher than Japan (390), Germany (371), the United States (255), and China (246).

Of course, the density of robots is directly related to the industrial structure and population of the country. In terms of comprehensive competitiveness, Japan ranks first, Germany ranks second, the United States ranks third, and South Korea lags behind China. According to the research data of the Korea Institute of Industry, Economy and Trade, the comprehensive competitiveness of the Korean robot industry ranks sixth among the six major countries, Japan, the United States, Germany, Switzerland and China, and is at the lowest level.

Japan has many major global industrial robot suppliers, such as Kawasaki, Fanuc and YASKAWA, and has a strong dominance in the robot industry. Based on its vast territory, the United States has outstanding advantages in logistics robots. Many warehouses are equipped with automated assembly lines, and the system is relatively complete.

However, Germany has a long history of advantages in the manufacturing industry. It has advantages in the production and application of robots over other regions in Europe. It has such well-known brands as KUKA. Of course, this brand has been acquired by Media China since 2016.

In China, with the promotion of "Made in China 2025" and Industry 4.0, China's intelligent manufacturing level and robots have developed very rapidly.

Speak with data

In addition to robot density and representative brands, market, industrial structure and other factors are also important factors to consider the development level of robots.

In 2022, the global robot market will reach 51.3 billion US dollars, with an average annual growth rate of 14% from 2017 to 2022. Among them, the market size of industrial robots will reach 19.5 billion dollars, service robots will reach 21.7 billion dollars, and special robots will exceed 10 billion dollars. It is estimated that by 2024, the scale of the global robot market is expected to exceed 65 billion dollars.

Last year, industrial robots in the Asia Pacific region showed outstanding performance, accounting for about 39% of the world's market share. Thanks to the use of robots by more and more industrial sectors, China, Japan, the United States, South Korea and Germany ranked among the top five in the world market share of industrial robots, and the Asia Pacific region accounted for three. Among them, China has the highest sales volume, accounting for 43% of the global market, with a strong growth momentum.

Recently, the Society of Electronics of China released the Report on the Development of China's Robot Industry (2022), which shows that the growth rate of China's robot market size is remarkable. It is estimated that this year's market size will reach 17.4 billion US dollars (about 121.45 billion yuan), with an average annual growth rate of 22% in five years.

The Chinese Power of Robots

Now, the robot industry is constantly stepping into new fields and exploring new scenes. In addition to further deepening in traditional automobile manufacturing, electronic manufacturing and other fields, new roads have also been opened up in medical, life and other fields, which has ushered in new growth in the scale of this industry. Under the influence of the epidemic, the unmanned distribution robot has also obtained a wave of development opportunities, and has become the "hot chicken" under the market demand. The global service robot market is expected to reach 21.7 billion US dollars this year and 29 billion US dollars by 2024.

With the development of the east wind, the global robot industry is developing rapidly. Under the catalysis of policies and markets, China's robot market will gradually overcome the problems of key core components such as reducers, controllers and servo systems, showing strong competitiveness.
