Laser welding robot uses semiconductor laser as welding heat source, making it more and more widely used in the welding of camera parts of mobile phones, laptops and other electronic equipment. As the welding heat source of laser welding robot, semiconductor laser (also known as laser diode (LD)) makes the application of miniaturized and high-performance laser welding robot system a reality.

Working principle of laser welding robot

The semiconductor laser tin welding robot system is equipped with a position correction system to ensure the accuracy of solder joint position and the optimization of process parameters. The principle is that after the marking point on the workpiece is illuminated by the camera, the welding position and height are corrected by the high-performance image processing device and laser displacement sensor. The output power, laser irradiation time, welding temperature curve and other process parameters are set through the LCD touch screen. The laser head is equipped with an anti-smoke optical lens and protection system. During maintenance, it is only necessary to replace the front protective glass of the lens. The laser beam suitable for the point diameter can be selected through the compact powerful laser generator in the system. The maximum laser power is 30W and 50W (air cooling), and can be continuously adjusted to achieve the best power welding.

Characteristics of laser welding robot

1. With non-contact, the minimum point diameter formed by laser can reach 0 1mm, the minimum tin feeding device can reach 0.2mm, which can realize the welding of micro-spaced packaging (mounting) components.

2. Because it is a short time of local heating, the thermal impact on the substrate and surrounding parts is very small, and the quality of the solder joint is good.

3. No consumption of soldering iron head, no need to replace heater, and high working efficiency during continuous operation.

4. When conducting lead-free welding, it is not easy to have solder joint cracks.

5. The surface temperature of solder shall be measured by non-contact method, rather than by actual contact method.
