With the transformation and upgrading of the manufacturing industry and the development of the electronic manufacturing industry, cooperative robots have become a hot topic. For users who are new to the robot field, perhaps they do not understand the difference between cooperative robots and traditional industrial robots. This paper will introduce the main differences between cooperative robots and traditional industrial robots in detail.

Cooperative robot: it means that robots and people can work together on the production line to give full play to the efficiency of robots and human intelligence. This kind of robot is not only cost-effective, but also safe and convenient, which can greatly promote the development of manufacturing enterprises.

Industrial robot: It is a multi joint manipulator or multi degree of freedom machine device widely used in the industrial field. It has a certain degree of automation and can realize various industrial processing and manufacturing functions depending on its own power and control capabilities. Industrial robots are widely used in electronic, logistics, chemical and other industrial fields.

There are two main differences between cooperative robots and traditional industrial robots:

First of all, the target markets of the two robots are different. At first, the research and development of cooperative robots is to improve the labor level of SMEs, reduce costs, and improve competitiveness, which can avoid labor outsourcing (leaving job opportunities in China). Therefore, the initial market of cooperative robots is SMEs, and the development and growth of cooperative robots are inseparable from SMEs.

Secondly, the objects that they replace are different. The traditional robot replaces the machine in the production line, and the robot is a part of the whole production line. If the robot in a certain link fails, the whole production line may be shut down without design backup. In contrast, cooperative robots are flexible, replacing people. They can be exchanged, and the entire production process is flexible.

Compared with traditional industrial robots, cooperative robots are mainly safe, low-cost and easy to use. One of the main selling points of cooperative robots is flexibility and openness. The cooperative robot provides a rich script language extension library, which can make the software more extensible and portable. The functions are more abundant and flexible.

Cooperative robots can play many roles, usually service roles and industrial roles. The service-oriented cooperative robot is used to provide information, transport goods or provide security protection in public places. Industrial cooperative robots have many applications, including but not limited to picking and placing, packaging and palletizing, assembly, machine maintenance, surface finishing, and quality testing and inspection.
