Recently, at the press conference of the 8th Guangdong International Robot and Intelligent Equipment Expo held in Dongguan, Xiao Biliang, Director of the Dongguan Municipal Bureau of Industry and Information Technology, used data to demonstrate the strong development momentum of industrial robots in Dongguan.
According to reports, the development trend of industrial robots in Dongguan has been good in recent years. According to statistics, as of the end of 2022, there are a total of 4689 robot production and manufacturing enterprises in Dongguan, of which 116 have a registered capital of over 50 million yuan, and the total output of intelligent robots is 1.5939 million sets.
Just the Songshan Lake International Robot Industry Base has nurtured and incubated over 60 companies since its establishment in 2014. The survival rate of the incubated team is over 80%, and the cumulative valuation of the top companies has reached 80 billion yuan. Among them, 15% of the companies have grown into unicorn/quasi unicorn enterprises.
Dongguan has formed a relatively complete industrial chain in controllers, reducers, machine vision, and other aspects, and has become one of the most important robot industry bases in China. In some areas, Dongguan enterprises have challenged the leading domestic level. For example, in the field of machine vision, Dongguan has gathered more than 100 related enterprises, including nearly 21 above designated enterprises, with revenue exceeding 5 billion yuan, accounting for about 1/10 of the relevant industries in China. With the support of national policies and the promotion of domestic and foreign market demand, the overall scale of the high-end equipment industry in China continues to expand. According to relevant data, Dongguan's equipment industry has a total of 3859 industrial enterprises above designated size. In 2022, the output value exceeded the 500 billion mark, and the added value of industrial enterprises above designated size reached nearly 120 billion yuan. Since the beginning of the year, the equipment industry in Dongguan has maintained a good development trend, with a monthly growth of 9.6% in March. The equipment manufacturing and automotive manufacturing industries have maintained double-digit growth.
Last year, Dongguan issued the "Action Plan for Developing a Strategic Pillar Industry Cluster for High end Equipment Manufacturing in Dongguan City", proposing to build Dongguan into an important base for high-end equipment manufacturing in the province, including CNC machine tools, laser and additive manufacturing, and robotics, by 2025. At the same time, six major development projects are identified, including high-end CNC machine tool engineering, new energy equipment engineering, intelligent robot engineering, laser and additive manufacturing engineering, high-end medical device engineering, and semiconductor and integrated circuit equipment engineering.
Nowadays, the equipment industry has become the strategic pillar industry of Dongguan's Second World War, second only to electronic information. Under the guidance of policies, it will become another trillion yuan industry in the future.
