In today's manufacturing industry, industrial robots play a crucial role. These tireless "steelworkers" efficiently and accurately perform various tasks, greatly improving production efficiency and product quality. However, to ensure that industrial robots always maintain good operating conditions, regular maintenance work is essential.

Ⅰ: Basic components of industrial robots

Industrial robots are usually composed of multiple parts, such as the main mechanical structure, control system, and drive system, and complete various production operations through complex programming and collaborative work.

The robot body structure consists of a hand (end effector), wrist, arm, waist, and base. Mechanical arms often adopt articulated mechanical structures, generally with 4-6 degrees of freedom, of which 3 are used to determine the position of the end effector, and the other 1 or 3 are used to determine the direction (posture) of the end effector. The end effector on the robotic arm can be equipped with welding guns, suction cups, wrenches, spray guns, grippers, and other operational tools according to the process requirements of the application scenario.

The function of a robot control system is to control the robot's execution mechanism to complete specified movements and functions based on the robot's job instruction program and signals from sensors.

If the industrial robot does not have an information feedback function, it is an open-loop control system; If there is an information feedback function, it is a closed-loop control system.

Control systems can be divided into program control systems, adaptive control systems, and artificial intelligence control systems.

According to the form of motion control, control systems can be divided into coordinate point control and trajectory control.

The drive system is the power system of the robot, and the robot's drive structure consists of a motor and a reducer. The motor uses an absolute servo motor, and the reducer has two types: RV reducer and harmonic reducer. The motor and reducer are generally connected using a reducer shaft or a wave generator.

II. Key points of daily maintenance:

Firstly, there is a visual inspection. After work every day, the robot's casing should be carefully inspected for signs of damage, scratches, or corrosion. At the same time, clean the dust and debris on the surface of the robot promptly to prevent them from entering the interior and affecting the operation. The inspection of cables and connectors cannot be ignored. Regularly check the cables for wear, breakage, or looseness to ensure that the connectors are securely connected without looseness or poor contact, which can effectively avoid signal transmission failures and electrical safety issues.
Lubrication of mechanical components is crucial. Key parts such as joints and rails need to be lubricated with appropriate lubricants according to their frequency of use and working environment, and lubricated according to the prescribed cycle to reduce friction and wear.

III. Troubleshooting and Maintenance:

Common faults include abnormal movement, communication failures, and decreased accuracy. When a malfunction occurs, the first step is to conduct a preliminary inspection of the appearance to see if there are any obvious damages or abnormalities. Then, use the system diagnostic tool to view various parameters and error messages, and gradually investigate the cause of the malfunction.

During maintenance, it is essential to follow safety operating procedures, cut off the power supply, and take necessary protective measures. After the repair is completed, comprehensive testing and verification are required to ensure that the robot resumes normal operation.

Ⅳ: Skills and training for maintenance personnel:

Maintenance personnel need to possess knowledge and skills in various aspects, such as mechanical, electrical, and control. They not only need to be familiar with the structure and working principle of robots, but also master various detection tools and maintenance methods. After purchasing a robot, do not hand over all programming and maintenance to the seller. Enterprises should provide internal training and external professional courses to continuously improve the skills of maintenance personnel.

In short, the maintenance of industrial robots is an important and necessary task. Timely maintenance can effectively reduce the wear, corrosion, and aging of components, lower the probability of failures, extend the overall service life of robots, and reduce equipment renewal costs.

Only by doing a good job in maintenance and upkeep can the advantages of industrial robots be fully utilized, bringing sustained benefits and competitiveness to the production of enterprises.
